Lieberman: Fleet activists accuse Israel of failure - Ha'aretz

Sunday, Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman said that flotilla for Gaza, activists who had accused Israel of deliberately sabotaging their vessels, try just placing their failures on Israel.

"The activists are looking to blame someone for their failure - no doubt that they watched too many James Bond films," Lieberman said in an interview with Army Radio. "It is an attempt to evade responsibility for their propaganda, and the lack of support from countries around the world."

Lieberman also said that Israel was behind the decision of the Greek Government to ban the fleet of sailing to the Gaza Strip. "Things do not just happen on their own," he maintains, "the Quartet, the Governments of Cyprus and Greece oppose the fleet, understand the needs of Israel and act effectively."

However, despite the technical difficulties and the decision of the Greek Government to ban travel, activists at roadside of believe it's only a matter of time before their departure for the Gaza Strip, declaring Sunday that they intend to set sail Monday.

The Greek authorities have announced that they will not allow sailing ships, they believe that the mission is "dangerous". The American ship's captain, Audacity of hope, will appear in court on Tuesday where he is accused of defying the ban on Greek, as well as to endanger the lives of the passengers of the ship.

Later in the arrest of the captain, and the forced transfer of the ship at a Greek military naval base, the activists held a press conference in which they blame Israel "export headquarters in Gaza in Greece" and condemned the Greece for "implementation of the policy of the Israeli Government."

The Quartet of Middle East published a declaration Saturday pleaded with those interested in the transfer of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip to "" through established channels so that their cargo can be inspected and transferred through established land positions. "" The statement further called on all Governments concerned to "use their influence to discourage additional fleets, at risk to the safety of their participants and the potential for escalation".
