Lauren Spierer Search: Indiana body not missing student - ABC News

The body is found in a Creek Indiana that Sunday is not that of missing college student Lauren Spierer, Coroner County of Marion Office in Indianapolis, said today.

"It seems that she is an African-American woman and non-Lauren Spierer,", said Deputy Chief Coroner Alfie Ballew.

A pathologist and forensic anthropologist determined that the "physical structural characteristics" of the body, including the bone structure of the face of the dental care structure of the mouth and the hair on the head, indicate that the body does not belong to Spierer.

An autopsy is underway and the coroner's Office will work with the Police in Indianapolis service to determine the identity and the cause of the death of the victim. While the process, which involves microscopic sampling, could take up to several weeks, the cause of death may never be determined.

"Sometimes, you are unable to determine the cause of death on a severely decomposed body," Ballew said.

The body was found Sunday evening at Fall Creek, located 65 km north of Bloomington, Ind., missing student at the University of Indiana Spierer where was last seen June 3.

Witnesses have identified the body floating in the water on the Creek just before 7 pm.

Initially, in Indianapolis, the authorities have been unable to provide identity, age and race of the decomposed female body found in Creek.

The Police Metropolitan Indianapolis had also contacted the authorities to Noblesville, Ind., who are investigating the disappearance of June 13 of 74 years grandmother Dorothy Heard, reported the Associated Press Agency.

"Once that find us who it is, then we can go back and try to determine the events that led to his disappearance," said telephone Adams, Indianapolis public information of the local agent of ABC affiliate WRTV police.

Last Spierer seen at 4: 30, at the intersection of 11th Street and College Avenue, walking home in his apartment after an evening at the Bar of Kilroy Sports and, later, the Party of a friend. Video surveillance of his apartment at the Plaza Smallwood shows that she never returned home. The last trace of the missing student was his key, found a block away where she was the last time.

Bloomington police have named 10 persons of interest in their investigation in progress, including Jesse Wolf, boyfriend of Spierer, which for the first time his disappearance, and Jason Rosenbaum, the last person to admit seeing Spierer.

Rosenbaum became the focus of attention when reporting resurfaced that he had left his Bloomington condo in research efforts. Rosenbaum Attorney, James Voyles, said in a press release that "Mr. Rosenbaum has fully cooperated with the investigation into the disappearance of Lauren Spierer and will continue to do so".

A social media effort was launched by the supporters and friends to pass the word on the disappearance of Spierer and aid in its recovery efforts. A Facebook page, Twitter feed, website and blog provided updates on the ongoing investigation.

Sunday marked once month since 4-foot-11, 95-book fashion major disappeared.
