(CNN) - The U.S. Coast Guard sent helicopters Monday to help the Mexican Navy in his quest for the occupants of a tourist boat that capsized off the coast of the Baja California peninsula, the Mexico.
The boat was carrying 44 people, including 27 Americans, said Felipe Naval Commander Jorge Bustos.
He said there were survivors of the incident, but did not offer further details.
Petty Officer Pamela Boehland US Coast Guard said helicopters are expected to arrive sometime Monday morning. She did not know what caused the boat to capsize, or that she did not know the specific nationalities of persons on board.
